A fan comic by morphmaker. Panel 1: It’s fan art of the opening scene of the film “The Princess Bride.” The grandfather is speaking to his grandson who is sick in bed. The grandfather is saying, “It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today, I’m going to read it to you.” Panel 2: The grandson asks, “Does it have any sports in it?”
Panel 3: The grandfather says, “Are you kidding? Fighting, war, revenge, torture, 200 main characters, a rap battle, monsters, dancing…” Panel 4: The grandfather continues, “mountains with six names, dramatic irony, flat Earth, stories nested within stories like a narrative matryoshka doll, true love, a big dog…”
Panel 5: The grandson says, “That doesn’t sound too bad. I’ll try and stay awake.” Panel 6: The grandfather says sarcastically, “Thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming.” Panel 7: The grandfather opens the book and begins to read, “Alright. The Silmarillion, by J.R.R. Tolkien.”
