Protector of the Small fan comic number six. Panel 1: Keladry of Mindelan and Alanna the Lioness sit on Kel’s bed in Kel’s bedroom. Jump the dog is sleeping near their feet. Alanna is reaching out to take Kel’s hand. Alanna says, “I’m so proud of you, Kel. Girls who saw you in the jousting tournament will want to learn combat and become knights because of you.” Panel 2: Kel looks away in embarrassment and starts to say, “Oh, I don’t think-“ but she’s interrupted by Alanna who says, “But Kel, don’t you see?” Panel 3: Alanna looks up at Kel and says, “I only got where I am because of magic and divine intervention!”
Panel 4: There are tears in Alanna’s eyes as she continues, “I’m a freak! I’m not a real knight, but you are!!” Panel 5: Alanna is losing her composure and is crying as she says, “You’re… so real” Panel 6: Alanna is sobbing as Kel pats her on the back. Kel thinks to herself, “Yikes… This is the worst case of impostor syndrome I’ve ever seen!”
